On January 2nd, 1943, with 15 freshmen and 2 sophomores, the Kentucky Wildcats unsurprisingly lost a game of basketball. Fans were disappointed, but they couldn’t know the rush of success the team would have for more than a decade: Kentucky would go on a 130 game win streak, not losing another game until January 8th, 1955, winning an incredible 130 games in a row. 3 generations of University of Kentucky students were able to watch their team win game after game, and one can only imagine the pressure the athletes felt to perform. The streak ended under the coaching of honored coach Adolph Rupp, who led the team to 876 wins and 190 losses, with a winning percentage of 82.2.
