Unique weather conditions on the morning of March 2nd caused a storm capable of producing multiple tornadoes to form in the American South. Of the 70 confirmed tornadoes in the United States, 19 occurred in Kentucky. 22 of the 41 reported fatalities also occurred in Kentucky. An EF3 tornado tore through downtown West Liberty, destroying homes and businesses and causing the deaths of 10 people. A school and church were torn apart. This tornado had the longest track among tornadoes in the 2012. Crittenden and East Bernstadt suffered from the tornado outbreak as well.
